Canal du Midi - Jeff Bailey VIII

(Hubert says: Apologies from moi, for posting Jeff's blog a teeny bit out of order, I have had some very late nights carousing. But you can still see what a wonderful trip he is having!)

A lot of driving today to get to our next big adventure and cycling around Provence in France.
Stopped off to see the Canal du Midi, a waterway that joins the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately, time did not allow us to visit the locks that allow the boats to rise 21m in only 300 meters.

We finally dropped the rental car at Avignon station and met up with Gail Trapp, who has organised our whole itinerary and drove to our next hotel in Pernes les Fontaines. It is a quaint old time hotel and very typically French.

Gail and Sue, our hosts for the next five days organized our bikes (brand new Specialized Rockhoppers) and drinks before dinner.

Tomorrow we are on the bikes alongside the canals of the area. Can' t wait!
